Maintaining American Manufacturing Competitiveness: The Scoop on Carbon Accounting

Our co-founder, Professor Karthik Ramanna, spoke at a Hill briefing hosted by the Bipartisan Policy Center on June 11th, 2026. The briefing focused on how carbon accounting tools can help U.S. producers to receive recognition for their low-emissions performance and maintain their manufacturing competitiveness abroad.

Karthik was joined by Catrina Rorke (Climate Leadership Council) and Brett Smith (American Iron and Steel Institute) and the discussion was moderated by Mariam Al -Shamma (Bipartisan Policy Center).

Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum 2026

For the second year, the E-ledgers Institute attended the Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum in Washington D.C. The 2026 Forum served as both a reflection on the evolution of the global energy landscape and a forward-looking platform to chart its future based on building systems, strengthening partnerships, and empowering the public.

As part of the Forum, our co-founder, Professor Ramanna, spoke at a private roundtable on how product-level carbon-intensity standards could serve as a foundation for US industrial competitiveness and trade strategy, and the steps needed to move from early-stage policy momentum toward implementation.

What Gets Counted, Gets Financed: Rewriting the Rules of Climate & Nature Capital

During Ecosperity Week 2026 in Singapore, the E-ledgers Institute and The Nature Conservancy co-hosted a closed-door, invite-only session with corporate leaders and policymakers. The session critically assessed the E-ledgers framework as a practical, resilient, and adoptable tool that could redefine how climate and nature performance is recorded and valued.

As part of the workshop, our co-founder, Professor Karthik Ramanna, was joined for a AMA panel discussion by Bob Litterman (creator of the Black-Litterman Global Asset Allocation Model), Romie Goedicke den Hertog (UNEP FI), and Anita Varshney (SAP Sustainability), moderated by Kristina Anguelova (The Nature Conservancy).

E-ledgers Workshop with UNSW

In collaboration with University of New South Wales (UNSW) Business School, the E-ledgers Institute convened an invite-only workshop bringing together a small group of senior leaders from policy, industry, academia, and civil society. Our co-founder, Karthik Ramanna, presented on how the integrity of underlying emissions accounting shapes the effectiveness of carbon markets and climate policy, with a focus on Australia’s role, the potential for leadership in this space, and the application of ledger-based approaches in the lead-up to COP31.

Aspen Forum on Carbon Accounting

Our co-founder, Karthik Ramanna, co-chaired the Aspen Forum on Carbon Accounting alongside Peter Freed (Stanford University) and Andrew Steer (Former President and CEO, Bezos Earth Fund and World Resources Institute), hosted by the Aspen Institute. The forum explored the role of rigorous carbon accounting in improving measurement, aligning standards, supporting efficient markets and trade mechanisms, and unlocking private finance.

Members Webinar: World Steel Association

In February, our Chief of Staff, Lauren Holloway, presented to the World Steel Association. The webinar provided an overview of E-ledgers, with a focus on applications in the steel sector and practical use cases, including the value of product-level, ledger-based carbon accounting for LCAs, trade and CBAM compliance, and competitive differentiation in global markets.

Our co-founder, Professor Karthik Ramanna, participated in a roundtable session, “Measuring What Matters: Data, Strategy, and Climate Transition” coorganized in Santiago by CoMov and Empatthy and in alliance with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the UN Global Compact – Chile. The session convened senior leaders from across industry, finance, and professional services to discuss how credible, product-level carbon accounting can support better decision-making and align climate goals with growing energy demand, competitiveness, and market access.
