Arun Majumdar

Arun Majumdar serves on the Board of Directors at the E-ledgers Institute. He is the inaugural Dean of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and the Jay Precourt Provostial Chair Professor at Stanford University.
In 2009, Majumdar was appointed by President Obama as the Founding Director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E). He served as Acting Under Secretary of Energy from 2011-2012, and has chaired or served on advisory boards for multiple U.S. Secretaries of Energy including Dr. Steven Chu and Jennifer Granholm. Prior to Stanford, Majumdar was the Vice President for Energy at Google. He also is a member of the National Academies of Sciences (NAS) and Engineering (NAE).
Majumdar earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley.
