Maria T. Zuber serves as Chair on the Board of Directors at the E-ledgers Institute. She is currently the E.A. Griswold Professor of Geophysics and Presidential Advisor for Science and Technology Policy at MIT. Zuber served as vice president for research from 2013 to 2024 and led the team that developed and provided oversight for MIT’s Climate Action Plan.
Zuber has been a leading figure in space exploration, playing key roles in scientific experiments for ten NASA missions and becoming the first woman to lead a NASA planetary mission. Zuber is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She served in key advisory roles to four U.S. Presidents, including chair of the National Science Board under President Trump from 2017-2018 co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology by President Biden from 2021-2025. Beyond academia, Zuber serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Bank of America and Textron.
Zuber holds a B.A. in astronomy and geology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Sc.M. and Ph.D. in geophysics from Brown.
